KST3277-KIT3 Setup Guide

Step One

Download P-NUCLEO-53L7A1 GUI Software

Download the free P-NUCLEO-53L7A1 GUI from STMicroelectronics. Please follow all instructions on STMicroelectronics site to download the software.

This software is only needed when using the STM32F401 Nucleo-64 Board as the MCU. If you are using another MCU of your choice, the software will be up to you.

*Available for Windows 10 and up


Once downloaded to your computer:

  • Extract the folder STSW-IMG037 to a location on your computer.
  • Double-click the VL53L7CX_Installer found inside the folder to install it.
    • Follow all instructions in the installer.

Step Two

Connect the KST3277-KIT3 Together
  1. Connect the KST3277 Distance Sensor Cap to the KST3281 Adapter Board.
  2. Connect the KST3281 Adapter Board pins to your MCU of choice.
  3. Pin Diagram:

    Pin Signal
    1 GND
    2 NC
    3 LPN
    4 SCL
    5 SDA
    6 INT
    7 I2C RST
    8 VCC +3.3V

    4. In this example, we will be using the STM32F401 Nucelo-64 Board as the MCU.

    1. Connect the Mini USB Cable to the STM32F401 Nucelo-64 Board.
      1. Connect the other end to your computer.
    2. With the VL53L7CX Software open:
      1. You should be on the About tab.
      2. Click the Refresh List button and then the Connect button.

        If you have multiple COM ports, please select the correct one

Step Three

Ranging
  1. Click on the Mini Depth-Map Tab
  2. On the right hand side, under the Device Control section, click the Start button to start ranging right away.
    1. Move the KST3277 Distance Sensor Cap around and see what is detected.

      There is a 3.5 meter max range
